Hi! My name is Donna Herbel and I am the Founder and Chief Igniter for Blue Phoenix Learning. Over the past two decades, I have been leading teams and developing hospitality managers as a Learning and Development Executive and discovered that many managers are secretly mentally and emotionally exhausted, and with so many challenges piling up, their confidence is eroding.
I know first hand what it means to wrestle with change and uncertainty while working to meet the competing needs of the organization, employees, and customers. It opened my eyes to the need to equip leaders with methods to cultivate confidence and fearlessness in the face of adversity and change, and that is why I speak to managers and executives.
My goal is to help leaders ignite the greatness within so that they have the energy and fearlessness to navigate change and adversity with confidence and hope.
When I am not speaking, you can find me writing, reading, gardening and enjoying time with my family. I look forward to connecting and being part of your next event so that together we can restore energy and ignite performance.

During my time as Vice President of Culture and Training for Perkins Restaurants & Bakery, I provided leadership training that elevated and enriched the careers of over 3,000 managers, from shift leaders to executives.
I’ve had the pleasure of delivering impactful leadership keynotes and workshops at several national conferences, including prestigious events organized by the National Restaurant Association, the CLO Symposium, and the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers.
As a certified executive coach, I am committed to helping individuals reach their full potential. I’m an active member of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers, the National Speakers Association, and the Minnesota Speakers Association, all of which keep me continually inspired and connected with like-minded professionals.
Beyond my professional endeavors, you’ll find me sharing my talents with the Jobs Foundation, a remarkable 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing the dignity of work to individuals facing barriers to employment. Additionally, I apply my love for supporting growth through amateur gardening.
